In an airplane, time has a particular way of separating from space. Our worries, fears, loves, and joys are all suspended 35,000 feet below.
I have always loved to look out the window on a plane— to let my mind wander, as I am in this in-between space. This is where these landscapes live for me, not as specific places, but as a way to dream in pictures.
I created these photographs during 32 flights over 5 years, across the country and overseas. In these images, time stands still while the outside world moves so fast.
