Open Spaces

This photo series came out of a time when I felt a strong need to get out of the house during the covid-19 pandemic. I explored the open spaces around my home in Ventura, California. 

This experience led me to discover that Ventura is unique in having legislated open and agricultural spaces through a voter initiative called SOAR (Save Open and Agricultural Spaces).  This project is a journey through the mix of residential, agricultural, recreational, and industrial lands that make up Ventura County. The project is presented as diptychs to highlight how all these elements are mixed in close proximity within Ventura.
